PASIGHAT Aug 13: On receipt of complaint and acting on a tip from a teacher through email, East Siang District Legal Metrology officers traced out the Ice Cream hawker on Highway in Pasighat and seized samples of ice cream products in packaged form yesterday. Later, they inspected the trading premises of the dealer (owner) and found similar products there. A case has been booked against him for violation of Packaged Commodities Rule, 2011 and imposed fine of Rs. 3,000.
The ice cream of the instant case was in packaged form but without the information as required under the Rules like MRP, net content, Mfg & Expiry date, address of manufacturer or packer etc. In absence of such information, there is every scope unscrupulous retail dealer could sell at an exorbitant price.
Since, most of the ice cream presently sold in Pasighat is in packaged form, it should bear all the required information. Besides, these products are to be sold within MRP marked on it by the manufacturer.

DSOAA submits memo to CM
ITANAGAR, Aug 13: The Directorate Service Officers’ Association of Arunachal (DSOAA) has called for equal opportunity in induction into IAS cadre. A delegation of 16 directorate officers representing different state government departments led by its president Taw Tebin and general secretary Wangton Lowang met the chief minister Nabam Tuki on August 11 last.
The association requested that only department officer be made the director, to not post APCS officers as director in any department and to promote directors to the post of secretary.

ZIRO, Aug 13: A mass social service was conducted by the Lower Subansiri district administration in which volunteers from the Haopolyang Residents Right Forum (HRRF), a local NGO took part here on Tuesday.

While mortal remains of Joshi and Brar were flown to Delhi in an AN 32 IAF plane, deployed at the request of the Arunachal government, Hoskote’s mortal remains were flown in a Pawan Hans chopper to Guwahati for onward journey.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said that the loss of invaluable lives is a national loss and the people and the state government would remain indebted to the families of Tirap Deputy Commissioner Dr Kamlesh Kumar Joshi, captains M S Brar and Rajeev Hoskote.
Tuki, Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin, Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi, ADC to governor Tage Habung and other officers travelled to Dibrugarh to offer their last respect. They met Kamlesh Joshi’s wife Neha, his younger brother Maj Rajeev Joshi and cousin Deepak Joshi.

The sad and untimely demise of former Tirap Deputy Commissioner Kamlesh Kumar Joshi has been deeply condoled by the people of Tirap district. A condolence meeting was held at DC’s office, Khonsa on 13th August in which officers and officials of district administration and all the government departments gathered and observed two minutes silent prayer as a mark of respect to late Joshi.

Air Force ready to ensure flight safety
in Northeast: Chief of Air Staff
Shillong, Aug 13: The Indian Air Force today said it is always ready to assist the civil aviation sector in ensuring flight safety in the Northeast, which has witnessed a number of helicopter crashes recently, mostly in Arunachal Pradesh.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha said, "In case the civil aviation sector asks for any assistance from Indian Air Force, we are always there. Indian Air Force has high standards, and those could also be implemented in some of the civil operation sector in this area."
The most recent chopper accident occurred when a Pawan Hans helicopter went missing on August 4 with Tirap deputy commissioner Dr Kamlesh Kumar Joshi and pilots M S Brar and Rajeev Hoskote in Khonsa in Tirap district. All three of them died in the accident.

"We don't want to be there only for rescue operation. We want to be there to prevent such accidents," Air Chief Marshal Raha told reporters at the Eastern Air Command Headquarter.
He pointed out that all five recent chopper crashes in Arunachal Pradesh were mostly caused by inclement weather, saying "We have to have the highest standards of safety implemented, Standard Operating Procedures followed and rules and regulations put in place in addition to proper monitoring..."
"No amount of your skill, capability can protect you from weather. You have to be very, very careful in making decisions, whether to get airborne, fly that route or return for safety reasons," the Chief of Air Staff warned.
"What is required to prevent such accidents is very strict implementation of the Standard Operation Procedure.
Indian Air Force has got very strict rules, yet we get involved in accidents in this area," Raha pointed out.
Noting that the Northeast was "getting top priority" from the IAF, he said that the Air Force has "lots of plans for the Northeast."
He said that a "large number of capable systems" and upgradation of ALGs in various parts were creating more manoeuvring areas in the region. PTI
PPA questions appointment of Parl secretaries
ITANAGAR, Aug 13: The appointments of four MLAs as Parliamentary Secretaries by the Tuki led government has been termed as an “insult to the people of the state” by those who defected from Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA) amidst grave financial crisis. The four MLAs who had defected from PPA to Congress are Pani Taram, Pasang D Sona, Tirong Aboh and Nikh Kamin.
“It is also a matter of deep concern that those very legislators against whom disqualification petitions are lying in the Speaker's court have been elevated to the post of Parliamentary Secretaries. This is a blatant challenge shown to the spirit of anti defection law that will eventually harm the growth of true democracy in the state”, the party stated in a press release while adding that it exposes the unhealthy nexus between the speaker of Arunachal State Assembly and the Chief Minister of the State. Had the speaker of Arunachal State Assembly not been the hatchet man of the Tuki led government, the speaker could have prevented the government from taking this unconstitutional step, said Kaling Jerang, Secretary General of the Party.
The party further questioned the silence of the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and asked why Rajbhavan should wait for the public to come to the streets creating law and order problem. Absence of violence does not mean absence of lawlessness, corruption in the state, the Party said.
Speaker takes class at Doimukh Govt College
DOIMUKH, Aug 13: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Nabam Rebia made an unannounced visit to Government College, Doimukh and took the class of BA First Semester today.
He taught the students on English grammar and composition for about forty five minutes. While teaching the students, Rebia reminded them that without having basic knowledge of grammar and command over language one cannot become successful in life. He also made a round of all the classrooms.
Earlier, Rebia had an informal interaction with the Principal, faculty members and students. While responding to the views expressed by the college community, he admitted that there are many problems which need to be addressed for sound growth of the college. He informed that a permanent structure particularly academic building is going to be started very soon and other infrastructure will follow in phase manner.
While responding to the problems raised by the students, he promised to sanction fund for construction of college canteen. He also assured to take up the matter of providing bus service to the College with the General Manager of State Transport Service.
He suggested the college fraternity especially the students to ensure peaceful and congenial environment in the college and promised to come to college very often and listen to their problems. Miloko Nobeng of Siang United netted the first two goals while Nong Nangkar scored the third goal for Siang United FC. Donggin Yameng FC failed to score any goal.
In the second semifinal match, Giidi Yameng FC defeated Donyi Polo Ganging by a lone goal to enter into the finals of the tourney. Tom Pangging scored the lone goal in the second half for Giidi Yameng FC.

Singh and requested him to keep a vigil on fisheries activities in the District and take action against absentee officers. He also inspected the Govt. Fish Farm, Salari and directed the DFDO to maintain the farm properly as this farm is an asset of the Department. He also inspected a private fish farm (0.20 ha) of Jambe Dorjee of Salari village and was happy seeing the activity which is located adjacent to the Govt. Fish Farm.

ANSU opposes committee’s decision on smart city recommendation
ITANAGAR, Aug 13: All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has opposed the proposal of the State Level High Powered Steering Committee for recommendation of Pasighat for inclusion under Central government's ambitious Smart City Mission.
The High Powered committee in its meeting held on July 30 had decided to recommend “Pasighat” for submission to the government of India for further examination and selection as smart city.
The recommendation of Pasighat only to be set up as a Smart City depriving the state capital clearly indicated involvement of politics, the ANSU claimed.

DC for timely implementation of schemes
TEZU, Aug 13: Lohit district Deputy Commissioner Tamyo Tatak today called for proper coordination between the departments and executing agencies for timely implementation of both Central and state Govts sponsored schemes in the district.
Addressing the review meeting all the schemes (both central and state sponsored) in presence of all the heads of department here, the DC observed that miscommunication between department concerned and executing agencies and contractors leads to unnecessary delay in work progress. To avoid unnecessary delay and misunderstanding, physical verification of the ongoing works is very important, he suggested.
Stressing on the need of sincerity and honesty in implementation of schemes, the DC said “in no way the quality of work should be compromised and work should be completed within the stipulated time.”
Action should be taken against absentee contractors and firms, he stated.

ROING, Aug 13: A cleanliness drive under ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyaan’ was conducted today at Roing market by Greener Earth, a local NGO, involving school students.
Around 120 students from Government Higher Secondary School Roing participated in the social service along with the Bazar Committee, Anchal Samiti members and DUDA.
The Greener Earth society pledged to make Roing one of the greenest and clean towns of Arunachal Pradesh.
Bamboo brooms, spades and garbage trucks, were provided by the DUDA for the social service.
According to the members of the Greener Earth society, the main objective of the drive was to focus on environmental awareness, cleanliness of the township, and to disseminate civic sense amongst the people of the town. They have also called upon the people of the state to understand the importance of their fundamental duty to work towards a cleaner and greener living.

We need to think and act critically
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of every conscious mind of the Arunachal Pradesh.
I am not surprised at all for not finding any Arunachalee working in any governmental or business establishment in other state of country, as still main stream consider us as savage, not well qualified and still not fit to stand at same footing with them. But I am surprised to see many main stream people are surviving on Arunachal resources because of their govt, jobs or business establishment. Then, how can these people disrespect us?
Many a times I came across with big business establishment in the state. Happy to see that our people are catching the pace of development as these establishments are attached with names of MLAs/Ministers and known public figures.
But when realty comes in front it shocks everyone as these establishments actually
belongs to non-

It may hurt many but realty is many districts in eastern part of Arunachal are dominated by outsiders who not only control economic activities but also in political sphere. This trend is fast developing in every corner of Arunachal. And day is not far when indigenous population will become minority and deprived in every sphere just like Tripura.
There are many incidences where indigenous people are being physically assaulted by non Arunachalee which shows their height of disrespect to us.

Last but not least I would like to appeal every conscious citizen of Arunachal to stand together at least when greater causes are in question. Because someday when we will realize but by then we will stand nowhere. We need to think and act critically about this issue. Employment opportunities for locals
Dear Editor,
Our state Government have awarded vast hectares of land to the central Government Department like , GSI, Prashar Bharati, and SSB during the union Territory period for the development of the state. The Land being awarded was previously cleared and occupied by the local indigenous people of Ganga village.
Local people were made to surrender the land by assuring them to compensate in the fields of employment, contracts and to support for construction of dwelling House etc. The assurances made by the state Government have not been met till today.
The Govt, allow the central government department like GSI, Prashar Bharati and SSB
to establish. The unemployed youth have approached the concern central govt undertaking
for employment opportunities but there are no vacancies available. Though the Geological
